Braeside is more than just a guesthouse; we offer an interestingly furnished home with a choice of distinctive themed guest rooms, a charming Victorian TV lounge and the delights of a 'northern breakfast'. Secure car parking is also available.

We are ideally situated for the city centre. Local historical attractions include George Washington's 12thC ancestor's home, Durham Cathedral and Castle and the beautiful long Northumbrian Coastline.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of good quality cuisine in restaurants and pubs both in the city centre and by the seaside with settings in such places as the old pirates' caves, yacht basin seafront and many more.

We can arrange and book 3-7 day golfing packages on all of Northumbria's top golf courses and hire you clubs to take stress out of your holiday journey. The Puma International Tennis Centre is close by and has 8 indoor and 10 outdoor floodlit courts. Matches or coaching by top county players can be arranged.

For Americans we have in the City the number one 'Ten Pin Bowling Club' in North East of England with 32 lanes.

Road Directions

From the Durham road (A690) turn left into Western Hill after Mayfair garage, on the left-hand side after 60yds. Chester road (A183), turn right before the university at the Royalty Theatre, bear right around the bend, one-way system.

Public Transport Directions

From Metro Underground University Station - 0.25 miles
Take Durham Road exit from the station towards park. Three hundred and eighty yds turn right into Western Hill and establishment is 60yds along Western Hill. Alternatively catch a bus at university library stop on Chester Road, any bus and establishment is beside 2nd stop.
