Spooks and Scares week at Seven Stories
Will you be in for a trick or a treat during October half term at Seven Stories? Are you brave enough to find out? Uncover the spooky story corner in the Artist’s Attic where you can read your favourite grim or ghoulish story surrounded by cobwebs, bats and all manner of creepy creatures! Venture down to the Creation Station to make and create your own nasties, and to really feel at home, why not come dressed as your favourite monster, ghoul or creature!

Saturday 25th October
Drama Workshop: Become your Favourite Monster!
1pm-2pm For families of all ages
Come and share some of your favourite magical and mysterious stories and explore your favourite monsters in this interactive drama workshop. Use your imagination to transform into a terrifying creature and invent ways to defeat the terrifying beast! Bring your family to this fun filled hour of magic, mystery and Halloween inspired drama games!

Drama Workshop: Become your Favourite Monster!
2.30pm – 3.30pm: for visitors aged 8+
Give yourself goosebumps and get into the Halloween mood in our spooks and scares drama workshop. Explore creatures from the imaginations of J.K. Rowling to Darren Shan and use your imagination to create your own terrifying monsters. Join us for an hour of games, drama and defence against the dark arts!

Monday 27th October
Dr Who Monsters and Masks in the Attic
Ray Phillips, make-up and mask designer for Dr Who will take up residence in the Artist’s Attic for the day working on new masks and moulds. Ask Ray questions as he works try masks on and take photos with some of his best loved creatures from the TV series. Young people can also make and create their own Dr Who monster downstairs in the Creation Station.
All day, no booking required.

Tuesday 28th October
Animation Workshop: Make your own Monster Movie, 8+ only
10.30am – 12.30pm, 2.30pm – 4.30pm.
Learn the basic technique of stop-motion animation using plasticine to create monsters and ghouls. This 2 hour workshop will involve creating models or using ready made ones. You will work in pairs to bring your models to life by moving them bit by bit, getting them to act out a story and taking a picture after every move. When you join these pictures together and play them back, the models appear to move on their own. This animation will then be saved onto DVD for collection at a later stage.

Wednesday 29th October
‘Build Your Own Haunted House’ design workshop
10.30am – 11.30am: For families of all ages
1.30pm – 2.30pm: For children ages 8+
Be inspired in this artist-led workshop to make your own haunted house. Participants will leave with a world in a box made from drawings, collage and their own imaginations!

Halloween Special with Tommy Donbavand
Join Seven Stories’ writer in residence Tommy Donbavand as we host a series of Halloween events to celebrate the publication of the first four books in his Scream Street series.
1pm – 2pm Creative Writing Workshop
Hear from Tommy how to get ideas, put them on paper and begin to write your first book in this fantastic opportunity for children to work with a published author.

2.30 – 3.45pm Storytelling Session
Tommy will read from his new Scream Street series and the very special, very spooky story he has written for Seven Stories, Ghostwriter. Stick around afterwards for what is bound to be a hilarious and entertaining Questions and Answers session.
