The Biscuit Factory is Europe's biggest original art store. They sell paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, ceramics and glass by artists from all over the world.

For beautiful ceramics pop into David Fry Ceramics in Black Swan Courtyard. The craft shops in the Newcastle Arts Centre, Laing Art Gallery and Gateshead Visitor Centre at St Mary's are also worth visiting.

Eye-catching hand made pieces of jewellery, glassware and ceramics are a Sunderland speciality, with craft and gift shops, accredited by the Crafts Council, on the ground floor of the City Library & Arts Centre featuring the works of up and coming designer/makers.
