Chef David Kennedy spent months planning his perfect restaurant and it was definitely worth the effort. A light, airy and elegant dining room provides the perfect setting to indulge in a menu offering a 'fresh twist on classic French techniques'. Try a terrine of foie gras with pear pureé and caramelised chicory to start, followed by glazed lobster and plaice with buttered spinach and truffles.

Located in a 12th century refectory (the former stomping ground of the Dominican 'Black Friars'), this is claimed to be the oldest purpose-built restaurant in the country.
