Walk Bede's Way and enjoy a great day out following the footsteps of seventh century pilgrims. The picturesque route links the the twin Anglo-Saxon monastery of St Peter's in Wearmouth and St Paul's in Jarrow, now a candidate World Heritage Site.

Road Directions

For St Paul's from the Tyne Tunnel take the A185 signposted for South Shields and take first turning on the left, Church Bank. The church and Bede's World are approx. 300 metres on the right hand side. From the A1(M) take the A194 signposted for South Shields then the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. At the next roundabout turn right on the A185 for South Shields and take the first turning on the left.

Public Transport Directions

Nearest Metro to the start is Bede and for the finish alight at St Peter's in Sunderland. Nearest mainline railway station is Newcastle for the start as St Paul's and Sunderland for the finish at St Peter's.
