Durham is a beautiful city to visit, with a charming cathedral and castle, or explore The Alnwick Garden and castle which has become one of the most popular gardens in the country to see. Beamish is a living museum which is bound to entertain young and old alike or head North and take in Holy Island, has lots of little islands like this which you can drive across when the tide is low (check out the tide times first!) but Holy Island is an especially scenic one- definitely worth a visit!
